Jesus Christ Superstar, written in 1970, is one of the most iconic musicals in the modern canon. It tells the story of the last week of Jesus’s life, from his arrival in Jerusalem to the crucifixion and focuses on the relationship between Jesus, Judas and Mary Magdalene. As it approaches it’s 50th anniversary it has never been out of production somewhere in the world and it’s mix of rock, soul, pop and orchestral music and continues to thrill audiences wherever and however it is produced. It contains the instantly recognisable show stopping numbers “I don’t know how to love him,” “Everything’s Alright,” Gesthemane” and “Superstar!”
